Library

AR

Mrs. Perkins works with her students.

The elementary library has over 7,000 volumes of fiction and non-fiction, plus a collection of on-line databases available for research. In developing the collection we consider the reading levels and preferences of the students and their research needs–all in keeping with the philosophy of Arkansas Baptist. We are here to serve the needs of teachers and students and provide quality resources for them.

K3, K4 and K5 students visit the library each week for story time. They also enjoy books that teachers check out for the classroom. Students in grades 1-6 have library class each week where they learn about authors, research skills, and general information about books and literature. Many students visit the library before and after school and during the day when it is convenient with the classroom teacher.

The Library involves students in reading through a variety of means.  Students in fifth grade are encouraged to read the classics to become a member of The Company of the Nifty Fifty.  Sixth grade students become Torchbearers after reading from a selection of books that present the Gospel or help the students learn to defend their faith.  All students in grades first through sixth can participate in the Accelerated Reader program.

Please see a librarian for more information about these programs.
